The Liberia Media Center was established in 2005 as a legally registered non-for-profit media and communication firm that fosters local development through the utilization of communication and information sources. LMC exist also to assist media and civil society with professional services in a wide range of areas, including, outreach and mass communication. LMC provides a forum for the periodic assessment of media courage of significant national and international events, facilitates capacity-building programs for civil society and journalists, and renders professional services and awareness to the media, civil society groups, and the public at large.

Liberia Media Center History

The Liberia Media Center (LMC) works in the areas of media development, access to information, transparency and accountability, and peacebuilding in Liberia. LMC fosters local development through the utilization of communication and information sources. LMC exists to assist media and civil society with professional services in a wide range of areas, including research, training, outreach and mass communication.

LMC Structure

The Governing Board is the supreme decision making body of the Liberia Media Center. In line with its statutes, there are nine elected positions to the Board from eight sectors. Each member of the Governing Board is elected by a representative meeting of its sector, for a maximum of two, two years term.The current Board is chaired by the Press Union of Liberia and has eight members including representatives from the community radio sector, women media groups, schools of mass communication, editors and publisher associations and the Executive Director of the Liberia Media Center.
