LMC’s STRUCTURE

GOVERNING BOARD


The Governing Board is the supreme decision making body of the Liberia Media Center. In line with its statutes, there are nine elected positions to the Board from eight sectors. Each member of the Governing Board is elected by a representative meeting of its sector, for a maximum of two, two years term.The current Board is chaired by the Press Union of Liberia and has eight members including representatives from the community radio sector, women media groups, schools of mass communication, editors and publisher associations and the Executive Director of the Liberia Media Center.
The Board works to determine the center’s policy, strategy, main directions and activities and approves its annual activity plan, and budget. It appoints the Executive Director and sets the number of staff; organizational structure and salary fund, and approves regulations on reimbursement to the Board members, and the scope of the audit.

MEMBERS

President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL)-
Holds the Chairmanship of the Center as President of the Press Union of Liberia.
Community Radio Sector
The Board has a representation the Community Radio Sector through its Chairman of the Liberia Community Radio Broadcasters Association. The Chairman of is a member of the Press Union of Liberia’s “Grievance and Ethics Committee” and works as a civil society representative to the multi-stakeholder Liberia Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, LEITI.
LIWOMAC –
Is the Liberia Media Women Action Committee (LIWOMAC) – a prominent and active women media development and rights organization- It is represented by its Executive Director.Department of Mass Communication/UL
The Department of Mass Communication of the University of Liberia is represented on the Board by its Chairman. The Department is the premier of departments offering mass communication related courses in Liberia. The chairman is a seasoned journalism trainer, a media consultant.Publishers’ Association Publishers Association of Liberia’s leading dailies is a member of the Board and is represented through its leadership.Editors Association The head of the Editors Association represents the association.FeJAL
The Female Journalists Association (FeJAL) is also represented on the LMC Board by its leadership.

ADVISORY COUNCIL


The Advisory Council, which is yet to be commissioned by the Governing Board, will provide advisory services and technical support to the Liberia Media Center (LMC), consisting of local, regional and international members.
The Council also exists to provide guidance and counsel to the Board, as well as to give credibility to the organization.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

                                             Mr. Samuel Kpanbayeazee Dworko    
The Executive Director manages the day-to-day activities of the Liberia Media Center. He oversees the LMC’s overall program strategy and main direction. He works with the Board in drawing up annual and semi-annual financial and business plans and budgets of the Liberia Media Center. Currently, the Executive Director manages a 19 member-staff.
The Current Executive Director Previously the Senior Communication Officer of the National Commission on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (NCDDR), under his leadership and direction, the LMC has rapidly developed into a vibrant media development support institution that has made concrete impact on the shape of the media landscape in the last few years.
Aside from the many activities and peer review the LMC has conducted, it has also been involved with a number of critical issues underpinning media development in the country and played a key role in raising awareness on the need for media development inclusion in the Poverty Reduction Strategy.
Conducting over a dozen small scale workshops and a multi-year community radio empowerment project, he has provided intellectual leadership in sourcing further support for media development, including accessing a number of new grant opportunities for the LMC.
