To understand the state of Coporate Governance in Liberia, the Liberia Media Center was contracted as a technical research institute by the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning through the Africa Peer Review (APRM) Mechanism to conduct research on cooperate governance in the country.

The research was designed and conducted with the hope of verifying as to whether policies have been put into place in order for Liberia to achieve the objectives of the study which included promoting an enabling environment and effective regulatory framework for business organizations and other entities; Ensuring effective leadership and accountability of organizations; Ensuring Ethical Conduct within organizations; Ensuring that organizations treat stakeholders fairly and equitably and Ensuring that organizations Act as Good Corporate Citizens. This was intended to indicate as to whether that the country was on the right trajectory in achieving corporate governance thus making Liberia an investment friendly country. Liberia being a post-war and third-world country, the research inquiries were tilted towards identifying regulatory frameworks that were in place for business organizations and other entities, their statuses, and how laws that are in place impact on good corporate citizenship in contemporary Liberia.  The study provided a broad picture of what has been achieved so far in promoting corporate governance and how organizations treat stakeholders fairly and equitably. Additionally, the research showed that each of the objectives unearthed both pitfalls and progresses made in Liberia in the pursuit of a good corporate governance system. It evaluated efforts made in ensuring that organizations act as good citizens in improving Liberia and its citizens.
