Multi-stakeholders Forest Governance and Accountability Project (MFGAP)

The Liberia Media Center with support from DFID through MFGAP build the capacity and empowered Liberian Media Workers to actively engage in covering and reporting stories from the Liberian Forest Sector. In relations to this, about 52 Liberian Journalist benefited from several rounds of training that were focused on basic facts about the VPA and other legal frameworks that govern the sector. The Training also stressed the importance of considering the voices of marginalized groups under its Gender and Social Inclusion Component.  These trainings were held regionally for community radio journalists and centralized ones for Monrovia based media actors.

To ensure that journalists have the requisite skills to efficiently and effectively report on the sector, the LMC and partners again embarked on additional rounds of training in Investigative Reporting to the same batch of journalist earlier trained. The training was held regionally as was done in the first previous rounds of training.

In addition to the trainings, Editors forums were held with electronic editors of news organizations around in Grand Bassa, Sinoe, Grand Gedeh, Nimba, Lofa and Rivercess counties. The forums were built on a commitment to improve reportage around the forest sector and promote editorial excellence amongst media workers in the counties.
